Episode 66: Banquet Cheesy Smothered Meat Patty Meal

Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master

There it was, staring it right in my face. Taunting me with its radioactive looking cheese sauce and ambiguously described “meat patty”. I couldn’t resist. I had to try it. The Banquet Cheesy Smothered Meat Patty Meal is tough to describe simply in words. I will let the video speak for itself but let’s just say, Banquet should have paid me to eat this 99 cent nightmare.

I like I how you didn’t even have to think for half a second as to what your reaction would be after eating the “meat patty” – just a quick shake of the head and a no haha.

Great review – I’ve been laughing out loud for the last few, they’ve been great!

I can honestly say I have never had a good experience with Banquet frozen meals. As a matter of fact, I just tired to make a chicken fried chicken (yes, that was the name) meal I bought for $1 last week at work and it failed. The potatoes and corn were way overcooked by the time the chicken was no longer cold in the middle. When the chicken was done, I think the sponge in my kitchen sink would have had a better consistency. Oh Banquet… why can’t you at least try?

You were a brave man to even eat one bite of that thing ;-)

Great review! I don’t know why you subject yourself to all of this harsh food :) Don something that really catches your fancy next!

It’s comforting though that they are more honest in their labeling. Reminds me of this contest (if advertisers had to be more honest):

Also Master – what’s that t-shirt you were wearing? Slanty Eyes? And no, I’m not calling you slanty eyes.

I’d like to point out that the cheese pictured on the box looks exactly like novelty fake vomit, right down to the little chunks. Ugh.

Banquet meals are all around nasty. I will never forgive them for leaving the damn spinal column/cord in one of their pieces of fried chicken and royally freaking me out as a youngster.

Wow……..I have one in my freezer and I am now afraid of it. Mind you this is after public school in the 70s and 9 years in the US Army. I will try it , prolly cooked in the oven and give an honest blue collar dog/ Army dog opinion sometime.
I hate to waste food so I will squelch my first thought after watching this review………leave it outside for the animals.

That meat is a thick as your average meat thermometer so using one is a bit redundant. Soy Flour means that the bacon bits are basically bacos. As an FWI Salsbury steak on many of these meals is an insult to the original dish which is suppose to be made of ground round. Red on the inside means that is contains nitrates.
