Episode 67: Trident Seafoods The Ultimate Fish Stick
Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master
Every fish stick is the same right? I mean, how can one truly differentiate from the norm when all fish sticks are fish parts blended together and molded into sticks and breaded? Well, if you are Trident Seafoods you decide to take it up a notch, believe in switching around the fish to breading ratio and using real fish fillets.
Now by now you need to know that if you make a bold proclamation on the box of your product, you are tempting the Frozen Food Master to try to make you feel like a fool. It was worth the risk and the Ultimate Fish Stick from Trident Seafoods truly deserve the “ultimate” title.
FreezerBurnsTM is a video review show on a mission to deliver you real reviews and real answers to one of life’s most stressful decisions: choosing the best frozen foods on the planet. Greg is the Frozen Food MasterTM and acts as both food critic and guinea pig. Join him every tuesday and friday as he eats his way through the freezer aisle one box at a time, only on Hungry Nation.

Wow! 4.5 stars!!! That’s up there. Until now I’ve never heard of Trident Foods. I’ve also never been a huge fan of fish sticks, although oddly enough Hometown Buffet (Old Country Buffet in your area probably) has a really good battered fish, not quite a stick. They’re addicting.
I’ll have to look in my frozen foods aisle for Trident.
Speaking of Red Lobster’s biscuits, which truly are AMAZING, here’s a recipe that tastes just like them. I make ‘em for my fam and they LOVE them to death:

I was about to counter your claim by my own discovery that I had indeed found the BEST fish stick ever when I was at Costco recently.
I went to freezer to get the product name…low and behold, it was the Trident “Ulimate Fish Stick”! Available at Costco in a big-ass bag with like 50 sticks.
These are indeed the best you can buy on the market. My kids CRUSH it whenever I make them, and I always throw a couple in for me too. Daddy has to have a snack!
I’m not sure why I would ever go back to another fish stick, regardless of the price.

If you like the Ultimate Fish Stick, you gotta try the Pub House battered Halibut, as Grocery aisle frozen fish goes, it’s my favorite.
Nothing beats cooking up a halibut you just caught and cooked yourself, but how many people in Iowa can go do that, just sayin’
One fun fact since you brought it up in your review… Trident actually makes the French Toast Sticks for BK

Deep Trout, are you kidding me about the BK thing? Those fish sticks are like the exact same dimension!

This has been one of my favorites so far…though I do feel like maybe a good opportunity for a Frodown was missed.

By the beard of Zeus, I love you.
You quoted my favorite movie of all time.
Now I’m off to play the rest of the movie in my head.
Yeah, I can do that.

I really happy to see that someone else agrees!! I LOVE these sticks! I even sent an email to the company expressing my love for them, who sent me out key chains and a bunch of chum, and coupons as well. Toaster oven next time!! 10 times better. To give these 4.5 stars out of the microwave is huge! Costco has a 5 pound bag, (or massive bag) for $13 bucks!!

Nice call–I tried the fish sticks tonight and they were awesome. I went on the Cooks dot com site to see if they had reviewed frozen fish and they hadn't. So…went out to the grocery store knowing I didn't much care for Gorton's, but determined to find a decent frozen fish stick. Trident was on sale, 2 boxes for $10. Fleshy, firm, and not over breaded, they definitely are a keeper. I cooked mine an additional 6 minutes (18 total) and they were perfect. Anyway, I decided to Google “fish stick product comparison,” and found your review, validating what I'd just discovered. Though I prefer fresh fish, the convenience is nice, so I'm going to try some of their other fish.
