Smart Ones Fiesta Quesadilla

Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master

As part of an initiative to start serving you guys even more reviews, I have decided to start bringing some frozen meals for lunch every once in awhile.

so1

This is one of the few dishes I have tried that truly delivers on what the packaging promised. With its black bean and corn concoction stuffed into a crispy flour tortilla, it’s isn’t going to win any beauty pageants. But it all ends up in the same place…my belly, and boy did they feel good going down. And even though I tend to favor dishes that contain meat, this vegetarian dish was pretty legit.

I typically find Smart Ones to be tasteless and bland but they were on sale for $1.88 and I decided to take a chance.

The package came with 2 separate Quesadillas each equipped with a separate crisping sleeve and zipper pull. I really dug the zipper pull, it allowed me to eat one while the second one stayed nice and toasty in its own Fiesta sleeping bag. The tortilla was crisp as advertised and the filling was tasty and filling. Although a “serving” was one quesadilla, I ate both and still probably made out nutrition wise compared to what I typically consume during my lunchtime hour.

I love these quesadillas. I like the option of making one or both, and they are easy to dress up if you feel like it. I often put fresh avocado on mine.

That's over 1,200 grams of sodium.. That's about half of your recommended value.
  • I had the breakfast version with eggs in it and it was equally delicious. It's evil of them to put 2 servings in one box though.
  • Very cool indeed. Sounds good. I love that it's vegetarian!

It's 440 calories for the whole meal right?

Unfortunately those nutritional facts are per serving. The box had 2 servings.
