Amy’s Tofu Ranchero Breakfast

USER SUBMITTED REVIEW

Slit overwrap microwave for 5 min.
When I took this out of the microwave I was immediately hit with the smell of refried beans and that’s before I even removed it from the plastic. I don’t think the picture does this dish justice, but it has to be one of the most revolting dishes I have ever looked at (and still planned on eating). The refried beans looked like runny dog poop, the tofu/cheese/corn mix looked like a science experiment gone bad. The potatoes, however, looked rather good.

On to the taste…yes, even after that lovely description, I still planned on tasting it. It is AMY’s, after all. The refried beans had decent texture, not too runny and were flavorful. The Brain, I mean the Tofu mix, was strange. I think it was ground beef tofu. I had always thought that if it was ground, they called it soy protein, not specifically tofu, well anyway also I discovered a small corn tortilla cemented to the tray, underneath all this. The taste of this conglomeration was bland, except when you grabbed a chunk of the tortilla. The best way to describe it? Like eating creamed corn blended with corn stuffing. I saw the salsa, I did not taste the salsa. Lastly, the potatoes were fantastic. Not mealy, very moist and potatoey.

Overall, I would say that this is a meal only AMY’s mom would love. It didn’t taste disgusting, like it looked, but certainly not on par with the other AMY’s stuff I’ve had. I suppose there was a reason this was on clearance.

Isabella, thanks...it was hard not to say too much when I commented on your wonderful review. I think Amy just can't do breakfast.

Awesome review! This meal is better than the other scramble, but that isn't saying much!

Bear, thanks! What's even more amazing is that I kept it down :)

This was hysterical, greak freakin' review. Yeah...I don't think I'd ever trust the "clearence" section at the supermarket...your tummy is not something you want to piss off :)

    Nice job Meg.
