Episode 99: Morningstar Farms Hickory BBQ Riblets

Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master

Today I am joined by good friend and web content creator, Chris Hadley from chrisphadley.com. I try to save the best products for my guests and today’s review is no different. Together we review the Morningstar Farms Hickory BBQ Riblets, talk about what type of vegetable has ribs, and laugh at the appearance of Mr. Hanky. Is there any possible way a vegetarian “rib” product can score high with the Frozen Food Master?

Ive made this in the oven and its AMAZING. Im a vegan, but Im also a huge foodie and know what ribs used to taste like in my pre - vegan life. I think they are awesome, and soooo much better in the oven. its easy - just cut them out, wrap them in foil and put it in for 30 min. sooo simple. they are great!!

the frog and ebay reference was funny. Long but interesting demonstration. I wondered what are the ingredients like vegetable base for the ribs?

If you haven't seen it already, check out Marvo's review of this product at The Impulsive Buy http://www.theimpulsivebuy.com/wordpress/2009/0...
  • Mmmm... Riblets are AMAZING! But you have to cook them properly... my Dad, who is a butcher and a meat-eater found these to be better than any "real" rib he's ever eaten. The best way to cook them is to let them thaw, put them in a pan with a little oil, start frying them up on both sides, then pour some bbq sauce on them, put a lid over it and let it simmer down to a yummy, stickiness, and a little burning of the sauce. They are made from texturized vegetable proteins. I can't believe people think that's weirder to eat than to eat the flesh of an animal who suffered. THAT's weird.

Dude, you're hilarious when you're with your friends and you get off on tangents. Just sayin'.

Maybe it's just me because I've been a vegetarian for so long, but these things taste pretty dang close to the real thing!
  • Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Ma
@Isabella: I eat tons of meat including tons of barbecue ribs. It's not just you. They taste legit.
  • Listened to this again with volume up and you can totally hear that frog in the background. That thing must have been a beast!
