Great review!
My favorite main dish would be chimichangas. But overall, nothing beats a good dish of helado frito (fried ice cream). Yum!

Right now, I have to go with a carne asada burrito.

Looks like the oven may give this one an additional star :-)
I like a good restaurant style burrito (beef or chicken is good). Topped with at least salsa, cheese, and what ever else i might have around at the moment.
P.S. Sorry Tina's burrito company…you don't quite make the grade for the quality of burrito that I would use :-)

Also, just as a side note. getting a frozen burrito to come out like a restaurant style burrito is a tough nut to crack. This takes a bit of extra time but hears what I do:
1. Defrost in microwave.
2.Bake in the oven for the minimum recommended bake time.
3.Cook just briefly in the microwave just to finish heating up the center of the Burrito. (This way the tortilla doesn't get overcooked and dry in the oven).

This is just a little tip I have learned from trial and error over the years.

You had me at “Hello Guys!”….love the enthusiasm, looks like you're all healed from your recent illness. Good to see you back in game form :)

I just bough this T-shirt from Woot, looks like you'll be needing it too:
http://shirt.woot.com/Friends.aspx?k=8901

Man, I've been looking for this comic I saw recently, it was pretty funny…about a vendor that was selling foot wide hotdogs as opposed to foot long….couldn't find it though, oh well.

NOOOOOOOO!!!! Another G. Love fan!!!!! Greg, I had no idea! Milk and cereal, milk and cereal…..I like cold beverages…..My baby's got sauce…..so good!!!!

You've come across the age old question that have stumbled sages and dunces alike…where does the enchilada end and the rice begin?

I think the flavor punch (firecracker/eruption) is toned down because it's a family dish and must cater to all palates especially kids…I believe they intend for you to add the heat yourself….might I recommend Tabasco Chipotle or Tabasco Habenero.

Favorite Mexican dish? I really must say that I love TB's chalupas….but I think all in all a really good bean burrito or a fresh carne asada taco (with lime and cilantro) can't be beat. The simpler the better. My local “hole-in-the-wall” has the best $1.00 happy hour tacos ever!

My favorite dish growing up was a dish from a local restaurant that is no longer in business. It was a california Enchilada. smothered in red sauce and cheese with cool shredded lettuce on top. Mmmmmm Its been about 15 years since I have had one of these and I can still remember the taste and the smell. Now that was good stuff!

Cheese enchiladas from La Margaritas, and pico de gallo from this little place in Seguin Texas. I could make a meal on the pico alone.

There was thsi place across from where I used to work in Bellevue, Washington called Little Guadalajara and it served a dish called Pollo con Queso and the easiest way to describe it is think of a mexican style alfredo skillet dish it had nice chunkc of fresh grilled chicken with peppers, onions and mushroomsand it was in a thick creamy white queso sauce served fajita style on a screaming hot sizzle plate with traditional accompiments such as tortillas, rice, beans, pico, lettuce and sour cream. Haven't been able to find it in any since the late 90's when I moved from Washington.

The ol' stand by for me a good mexican restaurant now is either fajitas or a chimi with shredded beef.

Another great review. El Monetery products rule!

I'll opt out of this giveaway, but I do want to say that as a native of San Diego, all Mexican food dishes have their own delicious niche. Nothing beats the fully wrapped, full-on meal of a perfectly prepared and perfectly portable burrito, however.

I also agree with GMa below that California-style “heart-attack” Mexican food (carne asada fries, the Cali burrito he names below, etc.) is delicious but not good for everyone and every meal.

My favorite Mexican meal? It would have to be the chicken chimi from our local truck stop. Really! They have great grub! It's served nice and golden brown crispy from the fryer. They serve it with homemade salsa, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole. The refried beans are okay. The spanish rice is great! Nearly dry with a thick tomato sauce (almost a paste) peppers, and onions. YUM!

Unfortunately I'm a 4-hour drive from it. :( *tummy growling*

My favorite, that also can be the most disappointing, is tamales. And always with a side of rice and beans. mmmmm

I'd say the Trader Joe's frozen tamales are better than 50% of tamales I've had in restaurants (and a perfect lunch, dinner, snack, or even breakfast). But nothing can beat homemade.

PURIST ALERT!! What's called Mexican food in this country is actually Tex-Mex–go off the beaten path in Mexico and you will NOT find enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, etc. You will find tacos and tamales, but everything else is pretty simple.

/PURIST ALERT!!

That being said, I had soft carnitas (pork) tacos off a truck outside of Yosemite National Park that were positively sublime. The meat was marinated in lime and cumin. Talk about a fiesta in your belly. And for breakfast … (dies)

Having just spent a week in Mexico, I love their fish tacos. And you can't beat the price, typically at 10 pesos a taco (right now 10 pesos=~75 cents). Most days I got 3 of those plus a drink for 40 pesos, amazing. Plus they have a salsa bar with all kinds of stuff.

On the “spicy” sauce front, I typically find that anything that touts itself as spicy usually isnt, which also really upsets me.

I HAVE TRIED ALL OF THE ENCHILADA PRODUCTS AND FIND THAT THEY ARE ALL EXCELLENT.
WORKING 10 HOUR DAYS IT IS SO EASY TO COME HOME POP THEM IN THE OVEN OR MICROWAVE , FIX A TOSSED SALAD, AND STILL HAVE TIME TO RELAX. MY GRANDSON LOVES THEM TOO.
