It’s “Flavor Fast” with this New Orleans dish. Or at least that’s what they advertise on the box. But will this Zatarain’s New Orleans Style Red Beans & Rice with Sausage “jazz up my dinner tonight” or will the flavor tones sound off-key?

Favorite bean: Does refried beans count?

Also, I am disappointed that you did not use the line “Red beans and rice didn't miss her” from Sir Mix-a-Lot's “Baby Got Back.”

Dang! Missed Sir Mixalot reference! :(

Marvo, are you aware of the awesome Hawaiian Ska Band, The Tantra Monsters? Because they have a sweet song called Beans and Rice that in hindsight I should have dropped in this episode. Curses!

I have heard of The Tantra Monsters and the Beans and Rice song. I think they're awesome too. Lot of energy.

By the way- In bookmarking your site, I found the title too long, so i cut and edited it down to “Frozen Fudd.” My, how you've lost your way, Chelvis…

This coulda easily went the way of a Marvo review :) There were so many times when I was like”uh ohhhh…..he could just……” and then your didn't. Playin' it safe….nothing wrong with that. Great review. Sounds darn yummy.

“The Big Easy just got easier!” I love that. And jazz up dinner! So awesome. Image in the guy who has the job of writing copy for their products. I bet he's awesome. I would love to meet that guy. Anyone know someone that knows someone that knows him? :P

I love Naw 'Leans….I spent about a month there. I was thinking I'd hate it but it was SO freakin' cool. Such character. The French Quarter is so cool, and the music really is amazing. I love the people there.

Favorite bean? That's an odd one….I'd have to go with Pinto….I used to HATE garbanzo beans but I kind of like them now.

Haha, yeah, ya missed the SMA drop! Your music knowledge goes WAY deep Greg, I had no idea. I'm still blown away with the G Love bomb last week. Here's “Beans & Rice” for those who don't know:

With the reference to King Cake I've got another question…what's ya'lls favorite cake? I love me some good ol' classic Betty Crocker's Yellow Cake with chocolate frosting with vanilla ice cream…that or a good New York Cheesecake….or German Chocolate Cake! Mmmmmmmm…..way off topic, sorry.

Thanks for the link tot he Tantra Monsters. I was too lazy to rip to digital from my CD. Tantra Monsters rage.

Also, G. Love is one of my all-time faves. In fact, I consider “Lay Down the Law” from Yeah, its that easy my personal theme song…”greg's gonna lay down the law…”

Rockin review….man, you were wired! Must be that post cold buzz. Anyway, I think Black beans are my favorite, just edging out Kidney beans. Poor Mrs FFM, she has to endure a musical evening.

Let me leave you with a song my mama used to sing to me…

Beans, beans, the musical fruit, the more you eat the more you toot, the more you toot, the better you fee,l so let's have beans for every meal!

Great review….

My favorite bean would have to be the Garbanzo or chick pea as you can do so many things with it. Such as make Hummus, put it in salads and soups or bake them in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper and have a nice crunchy snack.

I also love Garbanzo beans… but black beans are great too! I'm from New Orleans, so I appreciate this review. :)

I love beans! Black, pinto and garbanzo are probably my favorites, but I also like navy beans, great northern beans, black eyed peas, lentils, split peas… The only bean I really don't care for much is your fave: kidney beans.

Favorite cake? A rich, moist red velvet cake with loads of cream cheese icing. *drooling* Red velvet is a cake I refuse to eat with ice cream. Don't wanna pollute the flavor. :)

I love freshly snapped green beans cooked in a pressure cooker with a hunk of fatty bacon and some new potatoes. When we grow a garden, we have this for dinner most nights. Can't resist it. If you want the ultimate add a THICK slice of homegrown tomato on the side.
