There’s one thing that really bugs me when it comes to copywriting and that is when someone tells me what to think. I direct my copywriters to find the value proposition and communicate the benefit so that the viewer draws their own conclusion (albeit one that was influenced by the copy). But when someone tries to tell me what to think, well that really gets me upset and determined to prove them wrong. I can’t wait to tell that frozen food box “You aren’t the boss of me! You said it was delicious and it wasn’t. Ha!”
And so begins my experience with the Smart Ones Angel Hair Marinara. Right there on the packaging, “tender angel hair pasta in a delicious marinara sauce with spinach , yellow and green zucchini. And just in case I confused the “delicious marinara” description as creative flourish, it was bolded. So now I know they meant to tell me what to think.

Given all that, I tried to taste this product with an open mind. The thing that struck me right off the bat was the quantity of this meal. This was bulging with angel hair pasta—way more than I am used to with a Smart Ones entree. The sauce was satisfying but for me, fell short of delicious. It was thick and plentiful but not quite the robust taste that i would expect in a “delicious” sauce. The spinach and zucchini was good too. I was worried they would be soggy but they still had some hints of firmness.
There was a clump of yellow zucchini that was still frozen when I took this out of the microwave (after following the directions) but I buried it under the pasta and by the time I reached that far, it was properly thawed.
All in all a decent meal.
