Smart Ones Shrimp Marinara

You know what’s great about shrimp? The name already implies it is little and ittie bittie. So people start telling you how jumbo their shrimp is. As Pepé from the Muppets would say, “I’m not a shrimp, I’m a king prawn!”. But here’s where shrimp sucks. It sucks when after tons of frozen meals have delivered this Frozen Food Master medium to large size shrimp, I am served up real shrimp. I’m talking real shrimpy shrimp as in “hey, why did Smart Ones throw Sea Monkeys in here?”

It is really disappointing to prepare a meal called Smart Ones Shrimp Marinara only to actually taste mushy noodles with a side of shrimp bits. The box lists this meal as “linguini in a zesty marinara sauce with tender bay shrimp and mushrooms”. The box shows a platter of food worthy of an Admiral in the Navy or, at worst, a well-established captain. The type that has a pipe, a beard, and a turtleneck. All lies. Lies I tell you!

The marinara was not zesty and the shrimp was so small I refused to tell my mouth they were shrimp. And to top it all off, I got one mushroom. Now, most of you know I don’t care for mushroom but I wanted something redeeming out of this meal. Bad bad bad.

Whew, the FFM just got heated!!! Well at least they didn't slight you with calling it shrimp…but man, we've got to do something about these guys with regards to the “Truth In Advertising Act”. They need to be held accountable. Greg, of all men, you sir stand a good chance of being heard on this….stand up for us all against the tyrants that are the food manufacturing giants.

I think all the pictures on frozen food boxes are airbrushed :) Maybe we could have a subcategory of people finding and posting “the most accurate” box pictures with the actual food.

Some Smart Ones do blow, good to know I can knock this one off my list.

God, you made that sound disgusting. Definitely will not be picking that one up. Although, I've never really been a fan of Smart Ones to begin with.

Most frozen pasta meals really suck. I definetly won't be trying this one!

Sometimes food used in these kinds of pictures isn't even real food. Pasta is often replaced by plastic cut into strips so that it doesn't sag while they set up lights and make photo after photo. See the milk in the cereal on the box picture? that is most likely actually shortening instead.
