Smart Ones Chicken Parmesan

Yay chicken! Yay spaghetti! Yay cheese! Hooray for all that is great about chicken parmesan meals. Obviously I love chicken parmesan so when I saw that Smart Ones had a Weight Watchers approved version I needed to see what would be skimped to make it qualify for a 5 Weight Watchers Points value.

Apparently where they skimped was the breading on the chicken. As in, they skimped completely because there isn’t any on the chicken. This Smart Ones Chicken Parmesan has “seasoned chicken breast and spaghetti with marinara sauce topped with cheese”.

It also had a fairly satisfying meal with a generous portion. I found myself remarking at the succulence of the chicken and the nice cheesy crusty edges due to the fact that the directions did not require any stirring halfway through. The spaghetti was soft enough to splatter marinara on my new shirt when I twirled it on my fork and the sauce was tasty enough.

All in all, a decent meal that doesn’t make you feel you blew your entire day’s calorie and fat intake.

Hahha, sounds like the ride was worth the price. Seems like you had a lot of fun eating this one….like a kid…twirling his pasta. Sorry 'bout the shirt :P You need the Spot Sucker.

I enjoy many of the smart one entrees, however this is by far my least favorite. In fact, I would even go as far as saying it sucked. A strange herby taste from the chicken, combined with a bland red marinara sauce was almost enough to turn me off weight watchers for good.

Health-wise it sounds like a decent meal, but chicken parm without breading?! No fun.

Also, I have a request. I know that there is a user-submitted review for Ben and Jerry’s Flipped Out! Ice Cream but I think you should do an episode on it too. I'm more of a visual person, and if it really is worthy of 5 stars, I think it is your duty as the Frozen Food Master to review it. Haha

Thanks for the review!
