One Word Review: Disney Organic Mickey Ravioli

Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master

Ravioli shaped like Mickey ears? That’s a no brainer right? Who can hate on anything shaped like Mickey ears? That was my philosophy as I tried the Disney Organic Mickey Ravioli. But will they be magical?

“P.S. as you can hear, my 2 year old was NOT happy when I shot this review.” Haha, it's because you're feasting on her sweet old and beloved Mikey. Personally I would eat the ears off one at a time and then….”off with his head!”

Now was it gimmicky or the more apt Gim-Mickey?

@Bear Gim-Mickey too funny.

May not be magical but it would be fun, kids would be more excited about the shape than the taste.

Gosh I LOVE those wooden “sculptures/wall decorations”. Do they have any significance or is it just purely art?

Hi Erin, What you see on the wall are actually old wooden antique type drawers from letterpress shops. As designers, one of the things my wife and I collect are letterpress type. We have been collecting them for years. This is my dining room where we have 4 type drawers from the 1800's hanging with various letters inside. In all, we own about 8 drawers and over 200 pieces of type.

Heh, just a slap a disney cartoon on the front. I don't know why, but it seems to work. Kids are a marketer's best friends.

So now that this review is published, let me elaborate. It is always tricky trying to summarize all in one word.

Heres the deal with this product: the only real value it has is your kids will like biting off Mickey's ears. The problem is the actual product isnt even in proportion. It is an oblong Mickey face contrary to the perfectly proportioned face on the box. At least get the shape right if thats your main gimmick!

Even if something doesn't really look good, I'll end up buying it if it is “mini”, strangely colored, or shaped like an animal. I don't know why, but those things just draw me in….

I have been trying to find these raviolis all over the place. Our local supermarket used to sell them. Could you tell me where you purchased them? Or is there a number on the package that I could call? Thank you so much.
