Episode 122: Barber Foods Chicken Grillables
Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master
Its the Fourth of July and that means only one thing: throwing some meat on the grill and eating some meaty grub. So when Barber Foods contacted me about their New Chicken Grillables product, I knew I needed to review this before the big cookout weekend. Will the Frozen Food Master dig chicken burgers? Or will he think its just foul?

Great review, I totally am loving the lump crab analogy and the uniform size of the patty. Mmm, on my burger it's gotta be grilled shallot and onions, pepper jack cheese and a nice aioli/mayo all topped out on one of those light bakery buns.

I like to know the nutrition but if people are bitching at you I'd just write it below the review so people like me can at least read it.
Oh my gosh Greg how do you not die from cholesterol from that dream burger of yours lol that's a LOT of stuff on one burger! You must love to go to Red Robins with all the stuff they put on their burgers.
Randy and I have fallen in love with Buffalo meat, god it is so good. Randy likes his burger with bun, patty, mayo, cheese, bread and butter pickles and tomato. I like mine bun, burger, cheese and ketchup.
Glad you liked these so much! Make sure you share some with your family lol!

4.5 stars! Great stuff. 3day weekends are the best. Happy 4th weekend. Grill some grub, play some golf. Favorite burger topping….fried onion rings and BBQ sauce… close second would be some sliced avacado.

I like the nutrition info in the review.
As far as burgers go I like either chili and cheddar or bacon, cheddar, BBQ sauce and grilled onions unless it is a Whopper and then always ketchup, mustard, mayo only. My family are plain meat and cheese burger eaters, yuck!

day off annoying
Damn! 4.5 stars….seems like the sponsored review items always come through. I kinda (in a sick way) wanna see one tank big time
I hate 3 day weekends….sorry, not to ruin anyone's fun, I just really like working
The words “smoke flavor added” and the “grill marks” always make me skeptical….but I see why they've got to do it.
I like the nutitional info….some more than others…maybe rather than reading off the entire list maybe just a rundown of the relevant ones….like if there is an excessive amount of sodium or it's really low in fat, etc. …and then of course the full run down writin.
I love Maine too. I spent a summer in Ilseboro (a island near Camden, halfway between Bangor & Portland). Such a cool place….the people, the food, the restaurants, the atmosphere…..awesome!!!
So what you're saying is….you wouldn't dress the brest? Come on Greg…..what red-blooded American man wouldn't
You're not telling us anything new
What do I like on a burger? Anything and everything!!!! I'll take it straight-up, or with cheese, or mayo, or catsup, or onions, or mustard, or pineapple, or an egg…..seriously….I love trying new burger combinations. Obviously my most eaten is chee-burger withe ketsup, mustard, mayo, iceberg, tomato and red onion, but growing up (teen years) it was ALWAYS a bacon cheddar burger. Oh….and a western style….onion rings, BBQ sauce….mmmmmm. I honestly think there are only three things that matter, the meat, the cheese and the bun. If those are top notch you can throw anything else on there. I sometimes like the bleu chee burg.
Have a great weekend FFM!

Great review, but quick clarification. What is the difference between breast meat and rib meat? Isn't the breast meat attached to the ribs? As for texture…I'm envisioning flaked chicken.
Anyway, I am old school when it comes to burgers…mustard (brown), ketchup and pickles. No lettuce, tomato for me…maybe jalepenos if I am out of pickles. Oh, darn, forgot the cheese..cheddar!

I'm a big fan of provolone cheese, ketchup, spicy mustard, relish and crisp iceberg lettuce. I used to put mayo on as well but I'm trying to cut back on the extra calories at the moment
Happy 4th everyone!

My favorite way to enjoy a burger would be as follows: must have a good, soft, hearty potato bun for a little chewiness and substance, hopefully a not-so-lean beef burger so that it has a good amount of juice and isn't tough, then topped with a good amount of cheddar cheese, several strips of CRISPY bacon (not that limp buffet-type, half-cooked bacon), good barbecue sauce (preferably Bull's Eye Original), and a nice thick slice of raw onion. I have also been known to make a burger somewhat Pittsburgh-style (where I live), and add some french fries onto my burger. Primanti's sandwiches here put on fries and cole slaw, but I'm not a slaw guy. Ok, my mouth is watering too much right, I need to stop typing and get something into my belly!

Okay, point taken. I guess though only the companies that are really confident about their product are going to put it up to the scrutinizing palate of the Frozen Food Master.
A few more tidbits about the perfect burg….Sharp Cheddar, Potato Bun and 80/20 ground beef.
McDonald's: Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese, hold the flimsy pickles, add bacon dunk in Sweet & Sour sauce and their Barbecue sauce (this may change to the Angus Burger once I get a taste).
Jack: Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger
Carl's Jr: Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger
In-N-Out: Double Double Animal Style
Johnny Rockets: Smoke House Single
Wendy's: Baconator
Burger King: Steakhouse XT Burger
P.S. In all honesty I haven't had red meat in about 3 years and a burger in probably 5….but these are what I would order if I did
….had WAY too much during the Atkin's phase.

I've actually already tried these. I picked a box up at Sam's Club and we cooked them on a contact grill. I was surprised by how good they were. They didn't have the overly-processed taste to them that I was expecting.
I don't think you have to read all the nutritional info if you are writing it below the review anyway. Maybe you could just highlight anything that jumps out like super-high sodium or surprisingly low fat content. But, whatever. I'm not going to change my viewing habits either way.
Perfect burger? I like pickles, mayo, and mustard. And, adding bacon to anything is never a bad idea. Parker says he likes American or Provolone cheese, catsup and mayo. The mayo is news to me, but whatever, lol.

Chris have you tried Helmann's Canola Mayo? 1/2 the calories and full, real mayo flavor and texture. The stuff rocks!

I like a toasted bun, grilled onions, a1 sauce, tomato, spicy brown mustard and some potato chips for crunch. As to the nutritional facts, keep them or leave them, I'll still be a fan.

Those look pretty good. I think you should just list the nutritional info on the site since I don't really care about that stuff. I like lettuce, tomato, onions, cheddar, pickles, mayo, and ketchup on my burger. A bottle of Heineken also complements a nice burger.

I love these awesome vegetable samosa burgers from Trader Joes and those go awesome with a piece of muenster, some samosa sauce and grilled onions! Otherwise, I'm a cheese, ketchup, tomato, lettuce and grilled onion type of person.

Nice review Greg. I could go either way on the nutritional facts, as long as they are somewhere. This is a product I would def look for if it weren't for the “expected price” of 9.99 for 4..a little hefty for someone that shops for one.
On my burger..I like meat, cheese – chedder works for me, bacon, avocado, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and a little hot sauce to top it off

*groan*
I have no pride; I giggled at your “foul” pun.
sigh.
I am not strictly a vegetarian, but I don't eat that much meat.
On my burger, I would have it perfect if I'm going to eat a real one…though I'd most likey have a veggie. Ketchup, mustard (usually I like spicy brown/dijon, but on burgers I like yellow), lots of dill pickles, lettuce, tomato, onions, (I like 'em raw!)…..and I could go either way with cheese. Let's say no cheese. Lots of fresh and crunchy flavor is the best.
I'm iffy on buns too, sometimes I just like a piece of bread, or no bun.
I know, I'm weird.

I love for my burger to be a slopfest. Cover mine with cheddar, mustard, grilled onions, jalapenos, and extra sloppy BBQ sauce. I guess it would be called something of a Texas burger on the east coast.
BTW, I enjoy the nutritional facts on the video feed, I'm not a huge fan of reading.

I hope you keep reciting the nutrition facts — your reactions when they're unusually gross (an entire day's worth of sodium or lots of trans fat) are really entertaining.
Favorite burger, as long as I'm commenting: lettuce, swiss cheese, bacon, and thousand island dressing.

Dont stop doing the nutritional info, they often add to the entertainment value of the episodes.
And for me, nothing beats a rare cooked burger with some habanero sauce to kick it up. I dont like to pile on the condiments because I want the flavor of the burger. And no veggies, I'm eating a burger, not a salad.

I like just salt & a little pepper. Some garlic powder before cooking. No need to mask the beef flavor.

I like a lot of toppings! Lettuce, tomato, raw onions, pickles, mayo, ketchup, and mayo are what I usually choose for myself, but if a burger joint has a “the works” option, that's always what I go for. I tend to not even pay attention to what a “works” burger actually has on it before I order it.

I think In-n-Out has a pretty perfect combination of toppings: lettuce, cheese, tomato, sauce, and onion on a toasted bun. I also like bacon and mushrooms. It is fun to order a burger at a restaurant, subbing a black bean or veggie patty, and adding bacon – I have had a couple servers come back and verify I wanted veggie + meat on top.

I like a standard burger as much as the next guy, but sometimes I like to take the fries and coleslaw and stick those on the burger as well along with everything else. The saltiness from the fries and the creaminess from the coleslaw really go a long way and make an interesting taste.
As far as nutritional facts, I definitely like to see what's in the products (especially calories and sodium content), but typing them up under the review works for me – no need to read through them..
P.S. I like the Barber Foods Chicken Kiev's, so I will definitely be trying some of these one way or another.

Favorite burger toppings for me are bleu cheese , bacon , This makes a burger more like a restraunt burger. I enjoy these on french hamburger rolls for a cheap dinner that has an elegant flair. I would love to have free meal coupon. Could really use it for my family of seven in these tough times.

You should publish the nutritional facts online. No need to say it on the video. I think you should however, read the ingredients, or at least outline main ingredients in the video, and definitely list all of the ingredients online too.

I was looking for for treats for my lately took in cat who seems to have a lot of allergic reactions. I got a good cat food with turkey and salmon that fits with her, so resolved to give these a try out as treats. She likes them, and she is choosey since I won’t give her the things she genuinely wants because it causes allergic responses. It has been a bunch of trial and error. These don’t cause her any problems. And best of all, she likes them.

Personally, I enjoy when you outline the nutrition facts on the video, because you reaction to them is valuable in the whole big picture of a food review. Publishing them also is excellent for reference purposes.
