It was my understanding that Trans fat was chemically similar to Saturated fat and the reason it's so bad isn't necessarily the health aspects which are similar to saturated fat but not worse (and are bad enough on their own), but that packages didn't have to even list it, let alone give a percentage like you pointed out. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, favorite Mac and Cheese, the simple Kraft brand will do just fine. Throw in some protein like ham or bacon for a good snack.

Greg, I appreciate your exposing these shammy transfat snackers, I wonder if Dwight knows what he is endorsing? My favorite “frozen food” mac & cheese is hands down Beecher's “World's Best Mac & Cheese.” Beecher's is a brand native to the northwest – Seattle's Pikes Market, but is available in local grocery chains in Washington and Oregon. This is a microwaveable M&C that has a handmade, homemade cheese which is too die for! A four person serving is around 10 bucks, but both the quality of pasta and cheese are unmatched. And the taste, well…you just have to try it, unbelievable!

I moved my family out to Austin, TX about a year ago. When we got here the first thing we did that night after getting everything out of the moving van was to catch something to eat pretty late. We went to this bar/foodie place called Opal Divines just down the road. We ordered some sandwiches and I think I had a burger. Mine came with a side and I got the Mac n' Cheese. Oh my gosh, the kids, me and my wife gobbled it up. It was amazing. Perfect macaroni with several different kinds of exotic cheeses. It just so happened that their french fries were also the best I've every had. They list them as cracked pepper fries and they have a chipotle mayo sauce to dip. Unfortunately, I haven't been back there since I've lost my job and in this economy, well, I haven't even gotten a bite since, but oh how I remember that <daydream>Mac n' Cheese. </daydream>

I have a I have a feeling the Dwight Yaokams is going to be doing a little changing of their products if they catch this review. Too many people watch you Greg and will listen to your reviews. So if they caught this I'm betting some changes are coming.
My favorite mac and cheese would be Stouffers and a recipe my Grandmother use to make that sadly got lost after she passed away.

AS, This is in regards to this comment and the other one you left about cooking in the oven versus the microwave.
My reasoning is very simple as to why I prepare and review these items in the microwave: the majority of people do not take the time to cook these items in the oven. Sometimes there is a time difference of 3 minutes in the microwave or 35 minutes int he oven. The majority of people simply do not do this. Because of that fact, I review them the way the common person will eat them.
Thanks for your comments!

Before even watching this I'm saying with mac cheese fried nothing can go wrong…..
……uh oh. Man was I WAY off. Trans fats, small portion…too much orange (this was an orangey episode), generic breading….1/2 star!!! Whewe, that's BAD.
“…you can cook…these things, in the oven” Haha
Did you “carefully remove” these from the microwave? …seeing as you've got the girl paws. I love when the direstions contain things like that….my favorite is when they say things like “before enjoying….” as it's a command that you must follow.
“…dude if the nachos are stuck together they count as one nacho!” – Easy but what movie?
You must have clairvoyance sir, you said “…tastes like generic breading” prior to tasting
Is that the same “As” that was commenting on TIB….come on gut….stop with the critcal comments…there's no point. If you disagree so much go elsewhere, no one is making you read/watch these.
I know it's so boring and lame but honestly….my favorite mac & chee is by far my own…cooked at home…with lots of sharp cheddar and cooked crispy. Maybe even a little bacon in there…..mmmmm. You can't top home cooked goodness. I'm so exacting and particular that it would be impossible to get something at a restaurant the way I really wanted it.
P.S. I am not a fan of “blue box” M&C at all.

The mac and cheese at The Lady and Sons is very good, but like bear, I prefer my own, even though its a pain to make.

Looks like they should change the name to Dwight Yoakam's Leave “Ems.
They look terrible.
His music is actually pretty good though.

Does anyone else have certain textures that just make you shudder? I don't even have to touch them, looking at them is enough.
When that macaroni thing broke apart, that was seriously heebi-jeebifying.
I don't know if this counts, but it has macaroni and cheese in it….
When I was a kid, my big sister used to make me tuna noodle casserole with macaroni, parmesan, peas, tuna, some other stuff…I don't know, I was five. It was delicious.
Anyway, I used to force her to make it for me all the time. Good times.
Y'know, I don't think I've ever even had Kraft Mac.

Somehow I had a feeling that this one was going to be awful… not only did it look scary, but I've found that celebrity-branded products are rarely ever any good… with one exception: everything that I've ever tasted from the Newman's Own brand has been awesome. Come to think of it, Newman's Own just came out with a line of frozen pizzas (which I have not tried); it would be fun to see a review of one of these pizzas sometime.
At any rate… when you first started doing your “Fryer Burns” episodes, I wondered if you were going to be deep-frying some mac and cheese in the near future… as scary as that might be, I'm sure that it would have to be better than these “Mouth Poppers”. I will definitely be staying away from this product… and you're right; there's no excuse for the trans fats. I believe that 2 grams a day is actually considered the maximum “safe” amount for trans fat consumption… so this product would actually be the maximum (100%) daily value, in that sense… but even though up to 2 grams is considered “safe”, as we all know, you really *shouldn't* have ANY… the less, the better; *zero* is the best when it comes to trans fats. I'm sure they could have easily made this product without trans fats, and yet for some reason they chose not to.

Oh! Forgot to answer the question… I haven't really had mac and cheese recently, and haven't actually tried very many different kinds… thus far none of them have been outstanding, although I have yet to try making it myself… which is probably the way to go… and up until last year, I was a vegan, so it had been years since I had tasted any mac and cheese at all; maybe I just don't like it anymore…
When I was a child, I used to *love* the Kraft stuff in the blue box (::hangs head in shame::)… that was the gold standard for me back then, and no other mac and cheese even came close (although I don't think I ever had a good homemade version)… the absolute WORST was any mac and cheese made with Velveeta; I never could stand the stuff.

Just some elbow noodles, Velveeta, salt/pepper, and maybe a little milk. Or Stouffer's from the freezer.

Fried Mac and Cheese is awesome. Just as a note you have to make it with homemade kind or at least after baking it into a casserole. Chill overnight then cut into 1 x 2 x 1 inch squares and dip in one beaten egg and roll in bread crumbs and fry in 375 F oil for about 1 – 2 mins or until golden. Yum!
