Michael Angelo’s Roasted Chicken Bolognese
Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master

I like Italian food. Scratch that, I love italian food. So whenever I am visiting a new city, I try out the italian restaurants that make the local “Best of” lists. But what makes an italian meal for me is not only the abondanza of food but the family atmosphere and the passing around of dishes.
So every time I sit down to eat an italian dish from a frozen manufacturer I have mixed feelings. If it is an ok dish, I chalk it up to “eh, it was frozen what did I expect.” If it is a phenomenal dish I no doubt am met with the feeling of , “dang I wish a restaurant near me served this dish because I would eat there every day.”
Out of those two scenarios I had never experienced the latter…until now.

I am proud to say that this Michael Angelo’s Roasted Chicken Bolognese is by far, the best frozen italian dish I have ever had. As a member of the Michael Angelo’s line of Natural Italian Cuisine options, this meal had tender pieces of chicken, tomatoes, basil, onions, and parsley all over a bed of soft penne pasta.
I cooked this badboy in the microwave for 4 1/2 minutes on high and was nervous that i did not have to stir it midway or even pull back the film. I thought to myself, “no question, there’s gonna be some chewy hard penne stuck to the side.”
But I was wrong.
The pasta was cooked to perfection. The chicken pieces (cut from chicken breast and thigh pieces) are naturally raised and vegetarian fed. I would be lying if I could taste the difference. But the chicken did rock.
The only thing I wish it had was a double portion. Perfection.

“no question, there’s gonna be some chewy hard penne stuck to the side.” – Greg that's the best part!
It's nice to see you enjoyed it….after Mr. Yokum's dish you deserve it.
You know…that might actually be a successful business model…a restaurant that serves only (heated) frozen items….I could see people in San Francisco or New York or somewhere like that liking something like that.

Found this in my local “natural” market and decided to try it out based on the review. The penne was indeed cooked to perfection and the sauce was decent but I found the chicken to be dry even covered with the sauce. I'd give a five on the penne, 2.5 on everything else.
