OH MY WORD!!!! (…or oh Boya!) Almost 30 minutes (the longest episode by 2 mins 3 secs). @SchneiderMike (it was foreshadowed – http://twitter.com/schneidermike/status/3112256725) Alright guys….a long ep deserves a long comment :P

Mike, I LOVE the shirt!!! Man, I used to wait all month for the Thrasher mag in the mail, “Go Skate or Go Home”. Have you seen the Bones Brigade (Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Steve Cabillero, etc.) in The Search for Animal Chin? Greatest skate vid ever!

“…let's microwave these babies..” Again Greg! You've gotta watch the words :P

Empanadas are Spanish but most cultures have a form of them….meat wrapped with pastry…tamale, potsticker, dumpling, pierogi, etc.

“Skilletizing…oh man, I've gonna trademark that…” – Greg
“…..Yeah, yeah skilletitzing……” – Mike (yeah yeah Greg whatever) – Too funny.

No HFCS Mike? Good on ya man! Me too….hate the stuff.

Disappointing on the pear juice. I like the spill/spit bowl/bucket :P

“Home cooked oil”?

Greg you do know they have made new movies since 1990 right?

I certainly need to hook you up with a pizza. I swear you ever make it out here and you'll get a much as you can possibly eat. I'm with Mike….set the bar low…everyone eat a Goya Empanada then move up from there :)

Bug in the soda…it's bottled in Mexico…that's authentic (you better gnat mention that again). No Triaminic for me….it's all about the 'Tussen ala Chris Rock.

Coconut Soda!!!! I dig coconut too….never seen or heard of this. I love me some Horchata (I know it's no even close…just saying). I think I'd love this.

Hahahahahha…..like Vernor's….SO TRUE. I do the same thing!!! I sneeze all the time. Awesome! “Altoids of Ginger Beer…” Hahahahahaha. I was thinking….Gary V would be terrified at this episode :P Non-sessionable soda, ahhahahahhah. Ah-hah, there's the derivation of Belching Monkey. It's all about the Kern's (http://popsop.ru/19555)

Hahaha, Mike….”great episode!” I love the self back patting….but I do agree! Fantastic fantastic episode gentlemen. Well done….may be best ever. Thoroughly entertaining.

Goya is more Spanish/Cuban than Mexican. My folks always made the empanadas in the oven, either guava and cream cheese or ground beef. A pizza empanada is wrong in so many ways.

Pizza empanadas… those looked scary. Right away, I suspected that nothing good could come of this, knowing that this product was brought to us by the same company that gave us the “croquetas de jamon” in your previous review:

http://www.freezerburns.com/wordpress/2009/04/3...

Embalmed animals… not exactly what I want my dinner to remind me of!

UGH; those look AWFUL. So wrong… just… so wrong.

Not even the brilliance of “skilletizing” (patent pending) could save these! I know that Goya produces quite a wide range of different products, and they seem to be known mostly for their canned foods and beverages… but so far they don't seem to have done very well in the realm of frozen foods.

Those sodas sounded so promising… I love the *idea* of the coconut soda… too bad they were such a disappointment (with the possible exception of the ginger beer). I would probably still try these, just out of curiosity. As for the nectars, I think I've actually tried the mango one… it was okay, but not great… I prefer the Looza brand of fruit nectars (including both pear and mango, but my favorite is peach), which I believe is based in Belgium, but owned by Tropicana in the United States:

http://www.looza.co.be/

I also like some of the Kern's fruit nectars… more than the Goya ones, at any rate, but they still don't even come close in taste to the Looza ones. The best fruit nectars are like very intense, concentrated juices… but the lower-quality ones can just taste like watered-down corn syrup. (No surprise there, seeing as how the main ingredients in them are water and corn syrup/HFCS, rather than real juice and real sugar and/or juice concentrate.)

Fantastic episode, both of you… the longest episodes actually tend to be my favorites! It's always fun when you have guest reviewers on too. :) Sorry you didn't have a better product to taste this time; hopefully you'll have something better to try next time around. Still, you have to admit that the empanadas, downright awful as they were, made for some great entertainment!

As always, thanks for the review… keep up the great work!

They are amazing. you guys needed to fry them. these are copying the Puerto Rican empanada Kikuet which is a favorite of everyone. Deep fry and it is good.
