I don’t know about you but if I’m going to eat something, it’s sure as hell better be “Grande”. There is no sense in opening my mouth if it isn’t going to be filled! Let alone my belly that is in constant need for yumminess. So I was pretty excited to try out this CedarLane Chicken Burrito Grande. Now quantity doesn’t always equate to quality. Will this grande burrito be yummy in the Frozen Food Master’s tummy?

Hummm, you gave it a three and 1/2 star out of 5, but you didn't sound that enthused. I would have guessed 3 star max from your comments. I will have to try this, as I love Amy's.

I realized after rewatching that it wasnt clear. I was disappointed because of the high high hopes I had for it. But in the grand scheme of things, it was a decent product. I was just hoping for a 4 1/2 star in my belly that night.

I think it counts!

As far as coffee goes, the more “grande”, the better… I'm not particularly fond of Starbucks, but *love* great coffee in general… and lots of it. Perhaps too much of it… no, never mind. There's no such thing as too much coffee. :)

As for this burrito, I'm actually used to seeing that shredded texture when it comes to chicken in burritos (or fajitas, tacos, etc); it's pretty rare to find large pieces of chicken… so I wasn't surprised by the appearance of the chicken in this burrito. It certainly doesn't look bad, by any means… in fact, it actually looks pretty good to me (the burrito itself; not necessarily the chicken, which looks okay, but not necessarily great); I love the idea of all of those different vegetables together in that burrito… peppers, eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, onions, black beans… my mouth was actually watering when you were reading the ingredient list. :) I had to laugh at your apprehension… “are those MUSHROOMS?” I must admit that I would probably have seen it as a positive thing, had there been mushrooms… but that's just my personal taste.

I'm the opposite of you when it comes to the ratio of rice vs. veggies in the burrito… I prefer lots and lots of delicious, fresh veggies, and only a little bit of the rice. Actually, I could do without rice altogether, but that may be because the quality of the rice in most burritos tends to be terrible, in my opinion. Still, I think that just because of my personal taste preferences, I would have enjoyed this product a lot more than you did. The soggy tortilla would have bothered me as well though… still, with it being frozen like that with the sauce on top, I don't see how that could have been avoided. Maybe they should have put the sauce on the side?

Speaking of that green sauce, it did look tasty… nicely surprising that it had a bit of a spicy kick to it as well. As long as it wasn't overwhelming the rest of the ingredients, at least.

In any case, it's too bad that this product didn't meet your expectations… I will have to give it a try for myself to see how I like it, since it sounds like this combination of ingredients would be more appealing to my taste buds than it was to yours. Like you, I have heard a lot of good things about CedarLane products, but have not actually gotten around to trying one yet. I will have to do something about that and give this or one of their other products a try in the near future.

Well, I am 7 months late watching this review, but I just found freezerburns fairly recently and even more recently started loving the CederLane products. I haven't tried this dish yet, but I would probably be happier with it for a lot of the same reasons Echo710 would. Mainly the rice, I much prefer burritos without rice. I love a high quantity of veggies too. I recently had one of the cheaper packaged burrito type things (cellophane wrapped and not in a tray of any kind) from cedar lane and the tortilla situation is much improved without the sauce smothering the tortilla. The texture of the tortilla is actually pretty awesome in my opinion in that case. The chicken was a weird texture to me too, and a bit dry. The chicken looked like a chunk of real chicken breast, but it was strangly crumbly. The texture of the chicken was the worst part of the burrito I tried. The impressive thing about the burrito to me was that you could actually recognize the parts of the filling instead of the usual funky filling in the average frozen burrito.

I think I would have given the chicken fajita burrito a solid 4 stars, maybe even 4.5 stars. My favorite CedarLane product by far so far is the Chili Relanos. It is actually much better than I have had in some local mexican joints.

Thanks for your comment! And thanks for watching Freezerburns!

I'm going to look for the chili relanos now. Thanks for the suggestion!
