Episode 215: Nestle Drumstick The “Original” Vanilla

Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master

I’ve been trying to figure out why the hell these things are called Drumsticks. They are in no way suitable to beat drums with. The peanuts will fly everywhere! They don’t really resemble the chicken drumstick. The proportions are all wrong. My guess is its called a Drumstick simply because “Nutty Buddy” was already taken. Regardless of reasoning, these Nestle Drumsticks have been a part of my summer since I was a little kid. And they taste the same way they did 20 years ago. So how can you sum up this yummy, cold nostalgic upside down dunce cap in one word? I decided to comment on the overwhelming taste in the first bite.

Nestle states that the Drumstick got its name because the ice cream treat looks like a fried drumstick.
Gosh I haven't had one of these in years! Looks so good!

There are mint ones without peanuts, but they have a much thicker mint-chocolate shell, so good.

OUCH! My teeth just shuddered at your first bite. Amazingly enough, I hardly ever ate these as a kid. In fact I never had Klondikes either…such a troubled childhood :( I ate fudge bars and those fake fruit things in the long clearplastic tube (can't remember the name). Now I love the Skinny Cow cones..those are awesome! Idea for a Frodown, how about Haagen Daz ice cream verses Ben and Jerry's?

The variety pack is truly awesome. Chocolate, vanilla and then one with some kind of fudgy center.
