Episode 251: James Foods Spinach Artichoke Lasagna

Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master

Veggie lasagna is a tricky product to put out–especially when it comes out of the freezer aisle. If you add too much good nutritious veggies, you run the risk of it tasting more like a warm salad than a dense slice of heaven. If you add too little then you will be questioning why bother adding anything in there to begin with! Personally, that’s why I favor meat lasagnas and why it’s going to take a superior veggie lasagna to get my taste buds watering. And then we have this James Foods Spinach Artichoke Lasagna: a higher priced meal with a high-end looking box. How does it taste? The Frozen Food Master tells you.

    Greg,

Where did you get this? I don't think you mentioned it during the review.
  • I once had a lentil lasagna, that was beautiful.
Every review I watch and I hope, please Lord, don't let Greg be stupid again and put blatantly hot food in his mouth, and every review you always shove some scolding food straight into your mouth... when will you learn?
    Awesome review though :D
  • Healthy Lasagna!
That's just ridiculous, next you'll be eating apples with trans-fats and chocolate cakes with vitamins and minerals...
Awesome review though! I love spinach and ricotta tortellini.
  • I'm obsessed with spinach/artichoke anything.

This may seem a little off topic, but if you make lasagna homemade don't cook the noodles beforehand. You don't have to buy the no cook lasagna noodles either. Just use regular ones and they will absorb some of the extra liquid in your sauce. You'll have a neat lasagna that doesn't get squishy!

That lasagna looks really good. Does the artichoke contribute a strong flavor? I'm imagining a spinach and artichoke dip on a lasagna, is that anywhere near the right flavor?

great serving size. they aren't cheating you on what they decided was one serving. it still gets me that an industry standard is 8 ounces for a serving of liquid.

i've only ever had normal/plain lasagna. i dislike it in general because of how impossible it is to keep neat, all the layers slide apart and squish from under when you try to cut it.

    thanks for the entertaining review.
