Episode 270: REVIEW Contessa Calamari

Posted by: Gregory Ng: The Frozen Food Master

It seems like there are some people who like calamari even though they know what it is and those that dislike calamari because they know what it is. Then there are those who, when presented with a plate of calamari containing only the rubber band ring shapes, don’t care. It’s as if the sight of tentacles is just too scary for them to deal with.

I happen to love calamari. In fact, I like the tentacle parts the best because it locks in the flavor better. This Contessa Calamari doesn’t take any chances with the picky tentacle non-eaters as they serve up just a bunch of battered rings. But how will it taste?

The Frozen Food Master reviews this product, shows you how it looks, tells you how it tastes, and gives you the lowdown in this episode of Freezerburns.

oh thank god. i was afraid you were going to microwave this.

i've only had calamari once. it was absolutely frightening. rubbery and fishy and soggy. if you're ever down in florida, don't get the calamari from steve's pizza.

thanks for this really entertaining episode

    tartar sauce!

  • Yummm

If it’s super fresh calamari, all it needs is a little lemon juice. Otherwise some korean sweet and spicy cho kochujang or chinese style salt and pepper whole baby calamari with jalapenos and onions is great:)

Excuse me, but calamari scares me frightful ever since the breading fell off and I saw what lies beneath. I just scared. My bad.
