I was super psyched to see this Bella Monica Gluten-Free Peperoni Pizza in my freezer aisle. Bella Monica is my favorite restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina which is where I live. After I did some research I discovered that these frozen pizzas are the same pizzas the restaurant uses when people order off their gluten-free menu. Gluten-free or not, this is hands down the best frozen pizza I have ever tasted. Absolute perfection with rich cheeses, crispy thin crust and an abundance of pepperoni.

Find the store nearest you that carries this Bella Monica Gluten-free Pepperoni Pizza here.

The Frozen Food Master reviews this Bella Monica Gluten-Free Pepperoni Pizza. He will tell you how these frozen products looks, smells, and tastes in this episode of Freezerburns.

Best pizza I ever had? A hole in the wall place on Avenue J in one of the boroughs of New York. The guy made me a single slice of cheese and garlic and it was the best pizza I ever put in my mouth, it made me so happy.

Great, so now hes sponsored by Bella Monica and everything they serve is going to be “perfection”.

I am not sponsored by Bella Monica. This is just a really good pizza!

Is this something you can get anywhere in the country, or is it just maybe a North Carolina thing? Being in Wisconsin, I’ve never heard of Bella Monica…

  • Tyler2000

What about the false advertising on the box? It shows a full size pizza with about 14 pepperoni. What you get is a tiny pizza with 8.

I’ve eaten at Bella Monica and had their frozen pizza, and it was way better than the other gluten free pizza’s I’ve had, but to hear you say it’s better than other wheat-based crust pizza’s is huge. Makes me want to go out and get one now!

Greg the best pizza I’ve ever had period was when I visited friends in New Haven,Ct. near Yale. This place is so popular that it was even on the Food Network.Celebrities eat there all the time, including former president Bill Clinton and Frank Sinatra. When Frank was playing a show in the area he would send his limo driver down there to get pizzas.Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick says it’s the best pizza he’s had too.Anyway the place is called Franke Pepe’s Pizzeria. If you are ever in that area go there. It’s on a place called Worcester St.They also have another famous pizza place that is Pepe’s rivalry called Sally’s Pizza which is good too,but I prefer Pepe’s better.

So are these pizzas the same as the ones that were reviewed in Episode #204?

Not necessarily my favorite pizza of all time, but darn close, and it’s from frozen: Palermo’s ‘Primo Thin’ Ultra-Thin Crust pizzas, specifically the Supreme and Sicilian varieties.

I’m not usually a huge fan of combination type pizzas, I typically go for the all-meat or simple pepperoni varieties, but Palermo’s Supreme is fantastic! The peppers and onions are pre-roasted out of the package so there’s a bit of sweet caramelization and none of the pungent bite those vegetables can have when raw. The sauce is easily the best of any frozen pizza I’ve tried, all the ingredients seem to be top quality, and all sitting on top of a cracker-crisp thin crust. Again, I’m not usually a fan of thin crust, but they’ve just done it right here. And the Sicilian, can’t go wrong with pepperoni, sausage and salami, and again all very good quality in taste and texture. The balance of flavors in both these varieties is just head and shoulders above any frozen pizza I’ve had previously, and better than most delivery, in fact. The Margherita is also OK, but too much tomato releases a lot of water and tends to make it a bit of a soggy mess, so I tend to scrape off quite a bit of the tomatoes and then it’s decent, though not nearly as good as the others.Unfortunately, the varieties I’ve mentioned are the only ones I’ve seen in my area, and according to their site, they have a bunch more I’d like to try… maybe someday.

Oh, and the absolute best I’ve had, kinda hard to choose, but maybe Pizzeria Bianco here in Phoenix, everything there is great, but it’s hard to get in most nights.

Best pizza I’ve ever had–Di Fara Pizza in Brooklyn, NY. This might be the best pizza in the world, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that.

This is a family run place, although the father, Dom DeMarco is the only person that makes the pizza. Despite the really long lines, he takes his time with each pizza and seems to be unaffected by anything else going on around him. This results in lots of cursing and disgruntled people who are not expecting to wait so long for pizza. However, it’s well worth the wait, and watching this man make each pizza one by one right in front of you serves as a valuable lesson in how to make the best pizza. After spreading on the sauce, he cuts open a fresh bag of buffalo mozzarella for each pie, which he uses in conjunction with regular fresh mozzarella. Then, he pours on olive oil generously to blend everything together into the most flavorful, freshest, sauciest, cheesiest pizza I’ve ever had. Once it comes out of the oven, he grinds up some fresh parmigiano from a big brick and throws it on top, then using a scissors, he carefully snips fresh basil all around. It’s worth adding that he also sticks his bare hands into the oven to grab the hot metal pizza trays–I’m not sure if he can feel his hands.

If you have any inkling to try the best New York-style pizza there is, then do so ASAP–this man is very old and may not be around for much longer.
